i remember my dad... "damn it boy, you're going to do this! i've done it, your grandfather did it, your great-grandfather did it too."
usually afterwards my mom followed: "listen to your dad. me and him discussed about it, and we think this is the right thing for you to do."
there comes the never ending math and physics tutoring.
i liked them, but at a time my mind was on sports, girls, music... whatever. one cannot do efficiently more than two at the same time; i loved playing sports - and pardon my french - fucking.
i also liked to take things apart to see how they work, building my own little contraptions, but i felt trapped in the rigid world of the socialist "calculus and mechanics" prison... most of y'all know what i'm talking about.
others felt the same way... we aren't all the same. we all can be good at totally different things, and suck royally at others.
nevertheless, you're getting older, fuck-ups follow one after the other, you learn eventually.
i am doing now what i like, HDIC they call me - Head Dick In Charge - mostly related to the initial indoctrination from my early life, but spiced with a lot of other experiences i've been through.
somehow the methodically - practical american life discovered a way of helping the young how to find what they are the best at: ACT testing.
and after the testing, they are presented with The World Of Work Map.
your best abilities are highlighted on the map, basted upon the testing results.
sometimes i wish I had this available during my glory days; but i probably wouldn't be where i am now... who knows.
anyway, if the links below are of any help for you, the ones that are now our parents from 20, 30 years ago, well.... that would make me very happy.
